Jart

Jart is a timber family’s skate brand, and that’s not a marketing line. The three Iraola brothers, Igor, Iban and Ander, grew up in a family that had been working wood around Irun for generations before anyone pressed a skateboard. In 2001 they built their first decks in a small garage in that same town, a coastal spot in the Basque Country right on the French border, about half an hour from San Sebastián. Today European retailers routinely call Jart the biggest deck brand made in Europe.

History

Generations of the Iraola family had worked wood around Irun long before the brothers pressed their first decks in 2001, and what began in that garage grew into what European retailers now describe as the biggest deck brand made on the continent. The operation runs under HLC SB Distribution, which ships Jart to more than 65 countries. Through the 2000s and 2010s the brand built its reputation the way few European labels bothered to, on proper full-length team videos, a run that peaked with a 34-minute full-length directed by Dani Millán after two years of filming and picked up by The Berrics. That era belonged to Frenchman Adrien Bulard, German Mark Frölich and Spain’s Iván Rivado, all historic names on the roster now.

The woodshop is the whole story

Most brands buy their wood from someone else’s factory. Jart is the factory. Decks are pressed in-house in the Basque Country, in a plant operated under HLC SB Distribution: cold pressing, CNC shaping, Canadian hard rock maple from sustainably managed forests, and a claimed 100% recycling rate on production waste. The strongest endorsement isn’t anything Jart says about itself, though. It’s that the same woodshop also presses decks for Plan B, Flip, Sk8Mafia and Roger. When American heavyweights trust a factory in Irun with their boards, the build-quality debate is basically over.

The team

The current team is a different animal. Danny León, one of Spain’s best-known bowl and park skaters and a Red Bull athlete, has been pro since 2019. Then Jart turned Ginwoo Onodera pro: the Japanese prodigy who became the youngest X Games Street gold medalist ever at 13 in Chiba (2023) and beat Nyjah Huston to the 2025 SLS Super Crown. Tony Hawk’s verdict: he “skates like he’s in a video game”. Joan Galceran and young Basque rider Alain Kortabitarte round out the team.

Graphics

Three series have defined the brand’s look for years: the Classic series built around the double-oval logo, the Splatter series with its paint-splatter graphics, and the Rolling series, trompe-l’oeil graphics of paint being laid down with rollers.

Who Jart is for

Jart’s positioning is refreshingly clear. This is quality European-made wood at accessible prices, with a team that spans street and park and shows up at X Games and SLS rather than in collector display cases. If you want small-brand cult cachet, this isn’t it. If you want a well-pressed, traceable, European deck you can actually destroy without guilt, few brands on the continent make more sense.
