Enjoi

Enjoi has never once asked to be taken seriously, and that is exactly why skaters take it seriously. Marc Johnson started the brand in 2000 with backing from Rodney Mullen, both fresh off the A-Team, and the story goes that the name and the panda logo came to Johnson in a dream. He did everything early on: brand manager, art director and team pro, building the first roster out of his own friends, Jerry Hsu, Louie Barletta and Dave Mayhew. What came out of Los Angeles was a widely distributed street brand with a voice all its own: self-deprecating graphics and bright-orange ads that openly mocked skateboarding’s conventions.

History

Once Johnson left for Chocolate in the early 2000s, Matt Eversole took over the brand under Dwindle Distribution. The debut full-length landed in 2006 and won Transworld’s Skate Video of the Year on the strength of landmark parts from Hsu and Barletta, and the fact that enjoi gave that award-winner a deliberately self-mocking title tells you everything about its sense of humor. Then it got grim. In 2019 Globe sold Dwindle, enjoi included, to Highline Industries, a Bravo Sports subsidiary, for 1.5 million dollars. Under investment-firm ownership things rotted fast: Barletta left after more than twenty years, citing unpaid team members, and on Valentine’s Day 2023 most of the team quit en masse via Instagram as Dwindle collapsed. Exactly three years later, on February 14, 2026, Barletta announced “We got enjoi back”. After roughly a three-year fight he reclaimed the brand as a sister company to his Jacuzzi Unlimited, independent and skater-owned again. His stated breaking point: learning the corporate owners planned to sell enjoi-branded scooters, roller skates, helmets and rollerblades to Walmart. A joint enjoi/Jacuzzi summer tour has already been teased.

The panda and the people who rode for it

Right now Barletta is the owner and the face of the relaunch, with the new-era team still taking shape. The historic roster runs deep: beyond Johnson, Mullen and Mayhew, enjoi ran Chris Cole, Bobby Puleo, Cairo Foster, Caswell Berry, Jose Rojo, Nestor Judkins, Wieger van Wageningen, Ryan Lay and Ben Raemers, who died in 2019; Jerry Hsu stayed until 2013. The late Dwindle years belonged to pros like Zack Wallin, front and center in the brand’s mid-2010s output, along with Thaynan Costa and Didrik “Deedz” Galasso. A steady run of full-length videos across the Dwindle era tracked all of it, era by era.

Boards, graphics, collectors

Dwindle-era decks were built on the distributor’s proprietary constructions, most notably Resin-7: 7-ply 100% Canadian maple glued with epoxy resin and sold with a 30-day breakage guarantee. How the boards are made post-2026 under Jacuzzi Unlimited hasn’t been documented yet. Graphics are where enjoi always punched hardest: the classic “Whitey Panda”, the Hasbro My Little Pony collab with pro models for Raemers, Wallin, Rojo and Barletta whose “Cool World”, “Dreams” and “Night Time” graphics line up into a single mural, and satirical designs edgy enough to stir up real controversy now and then.
